Save a video from the TikTok app and you get a logo drifting from corner to corner, with the creator's name under it. The drifting is the whole point. A stamp that stays still could be cropped off in ten seconds. A moving one cannot.
Where the stamp comes from
The file on TikTok's servers has no watermark. The stamp is added while you save: the app re-encodes the clip and burns the logo and the username into the picture.
That second squeeze costs you something you did not ask for. The video was already compressed when it was uploaded. Saving it compresses it again. You get a softer picture and a permanent stamp.
Taking the stored file avoids both at once. There is no watermark to remove, and nothing gets squeezed a second time.
Why cropping, blurring and removers all fail
Every fix that starts from a stamped file is a losing battle. Here is why, before you spend an evening on it.

If the clip is going to another app, the watermark stops being a looks problem and becomes a views problem.
Instagram tells creators directly that watermarks from other apps on a reel may affect how far it goes, and suggests removing them. (Instagram for Creators) A visible TikTok logo is the clearest possible sign that a post came from a rival app.
One trap worth naming: TikTok's own Share to Instagram button sends the watermarked version. Using it is the fastest way to give Instagram exactly the signal you were trying to avoid. Take the clean file and upload it yourself.
Music from TikTok's library is not cleared for Instagram or Facebook. A clean picture with a chart song under it can still get muted on the other side. If you post for a brand or a client, use sound you can use on both.
How to check you really got a clean file
Not every site that promises a watermark-free download delivers one. Two checks take ten seconds.
Scrub through the whole clip, not just the start. Some tools give you a file where the logo only shows up after a few seconds, or in the last third. Drag the playhead across the whole thing.
Look at the file size. A thirty-second vertical clip in real 1080p sits between 6 and 15 MB. Under 3 MB and you got a downgraded copy, watermark or not.
Also check the corners for a different logo. A few sites remove TikTok's stamp and add their own.
Your own videos are the annoying case
Creators hit this constantly. You want your own clip, clean, for a portfolio or another app, and TikTok only offers a stamped copy.
The way round it is the same as for anyone else's: post it, then take the stored version from its link.
Better still, keep the file your editing software exported. That one has never been through TikTok, so it has never been squeezed at all. Nothing you pull back afterwards will match it.
Where the file lands
